Marike will form NautaDutilh's board of management together with Sjoerd Meijer and Lieke van der Velden, who were appointed in 2022. Our board does not have a chairperson.
Marike Bakker will continue to practice and co-head NautaDutilh's Corporate Crime & Investigations team. She has almost three decades of experience in the areas of white collar crime and business defense, including anti-money laundering, anti-corruption and on site dawn raid assistance. She advises and litigates on behalf of corporations, board members and senior executives in matters related to criminal and regulatory enforcement, often in the financial sector and the professional services industry. Marike joined NautaDutilh in 2016 as partner.
Sjoerd Meijer: “Congratulations to Marike on her appointment. She is a leader in her field, she brings tons of energy to everything she does and is great to work with. Lieke and I look forward to lead NautaDutilh towards its 300th anniversary in 2024 together with Marike. We also would like to thank Chris for his commitment, cooperation and excellent work over the past six years. Developments such as the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine meant this was an unprecedented and eventful time, throughout which Chris has been a steady hand in steering strategy."
Marike Bakker: "I look forward taking up this new role together with Sjoerd and Lieke and combining the responsibilities as board member with my legal practice. For me, being able to balance working with our clients to find the best way forward in the most complex situations and working with our talented lawyers and business support professionals to contribute to our firm's continued success as Benelux elite firm is the best of both worlds."
Chris will return to his tax law practice full-time.
Chris says: "I look forward to continuing my work with our excellent Benelux tax team and working closely together again with our clients. The past six years have certainly broadened my perspective. Above all, I enjoyed working together with so many great people across all our offices. Leading the firm really is team work."
