Ruben Rekers works as an attorney-at-law and is engaged with the practice group Corporate (Mergers and Acquisitions). Ruben is involved in international and national corporate transactions and advises (corporate) clients on a variety of corporate matters, with a focus on private equity, venture capital, family-owned business and other corporate clients.

Previously, Ruben was part of the Litigation & Arbitration team, where he advised and litigated for both national and international clients on matters relating to corporate and commercial, including post-M&A disputes.

    Private equity

    • Founders of Rotom Europe with the majority investment of Waterland Private Equity Investments;
    • NPM Capital with the sale of its portfolio company NileDutch to Hapag-Lloyd;
    • Keensight Capital's portfolio company RAM Infotechnology with the acquisition of CuraTec;
    • Bowmark Capital's portfolio company Tax Systems with the acquisition of TaxModel;
    • YoungCapital with the acquisition of a stake in Timetohire;
    • HAL Investment's portfolio company Infomedics with the acquisition of Anders Medical Factoring's activities;

    Venture capital

    • Quatt with its EUR 25 mio Series A Investment round;
    • SoftBank Vision Fund 2, with the EUR 150 mio Series C investment in Dutch scale-up SendCloud;
    • Renewaball with its launch in 2021 and various subsequent investment rounds, including the latest EUR 3 mio Series A investment led by Rubio Impact Ventures;
    • An Indian listed motorcycle company with various investments in an air-mobility company;
    • Vopak Ventures with its investments in Singapore-based Performance Rotors and Netherlands-based HyperSonic;

    Private M&A

    • Nouryon, a global specialty chemicals company, with the carve-out of its base chemicals business, Nobian;
    • Nobian, a European base chemical company, with (i) the sale of its salt specialties business (2021) and (ii) the set-up of the hydrogen joint venture with Macquirie's Green Investment Group;
    • ABB, a leading global technology company, with the acquisition of Codian Robotics;
    • ENGIE, with the acquisition of Hydreco Geomec in a competitive auction sale;
    • Neele-Vat, a logistics service provider, with the acquisition of Steder Group;
    • Polyconcept, an international hardgoods and apparel company, on their acquisition of T Shirts & Sons;
    • A European-based electro-optical technologies company during the competitive auction sale of a Dutch-based industrial camera maker;
  • Qualifications

    Ruben has practiced at NautaDutilh in the Netherlands since 2019 and he is admitted to the Amsterdam bar. He is presently located in the firm’s New York office.

    Ruben studied at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he obtained a master's degree in Company Law (cum laude) and a master's degree in Financial Economics (cum laude) in 2019. Ruben also studied for one semester at the Essex Law School, University of Essex (England).

    Ruben obtained a post-graduate specialization degree in mergers and acquisitions (cum laude) at the VU Amsterdam in 2024.
