NautaDutilh has assisted in the successful closing of Project Phoenix, which involves the lifecycle extension of the nuclear units at Doel 4 and Tihange 3.

This milestone was achieved on 14 March 2025 following the European Commission's state aid clearance on 21 February 2025.

NautaDutilh, in collaboration with Slaughter and May, provided legal counsel to our longstanding clients ENGIE and Electrabel throughout the negotiations with the Belgian State and the execution of the closing.

The closing of Project Phoenix represents a significant achievement in ensuring Belgium's energy supply for the foreseeable future. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to ENGIE and Electrabel for their steadfast dedication and commitment over the years, establishing Electrabel as a key energy supplier in Belgium.
