Our firm advised Circle Infra Partners B.V. (Circle) and its shareholders on the sale of Circle to Basalt Infrastructure Partners (Basalt).

Circle owns and manages critical shared infrastructure at the Chemelot chemical park in Geleen, the Netherlands. Chemelot is a world-class industrial hub for the chemical sector, hosting around 60 chemical plants and over 200 companies. Circle is responsible for the ownership and operation of essential infrastructure at the site, including port facilities, railways, roads, sewer systems, real estate, and an extensive wastewater treatment plant that services the entire Chemelot site.

Basalt is the investment advisor to the Basalt funds, which focus on mid-market infrastructure equity investments across North America and Europe. Their portfolio spans sectors such as utilities, power, transportation, and communications infrastructure.

The sale of Circle to Basalt marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Chemelot's critical infrastructure, ensuring continued excellence and innovation in the management of essential facilities that support one of Europe's premier chemical hub.
